The car carrier Tricolor sank after colliding with a container vessel. The 16,000 dwt car carrier sank after she collided with a container vessel in the English Channel near France.

SMIT was acting as a leader in the consortium ‘Combinatie Berging Tricolor' to remove the wreck. It was decided to cut the wreck into nine pieces, utilizing the ‘Kursk' cutting wire.

The nine sections were lifted onto barges and mobilized under the supervision of the salvors. The barges transported the parts to a scrap site in Zeebrugge, Belgium.
